Bowie County Commissioner’s Court Declare April as Child Abuse Prevention Month

March 23, 2015 | Bowie County Commissioner’s Court declared that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“We don’t only have child abuse in April. 9/10 of our cases is drug abuse. We need to do something about the drugs. We want to declare this month to help bring awareness,” stated Bowie County Child Welfare Board Sue Anderson. She has been with the Board for 27 years.

Commissioner Kelly Blackburn presided over the meeting. Bowie County Judge James Carlow was absent because he was out of town for business for the county, stated Blackburn.

The court also passed a resolution to allowed Central Records and Communications to be destroyed according to Texas Local Government Code. This is legal as long as it is carried out in accordance with this code,” stated Kelly Blackburn.

The Bowie County Commissioner’s meeting was held at the New Boston Courthouse on March 23, 2015 at 10:00 am.

  6. Consider and take action to approve Memorandum of Agreement between Texarkana-Bowie County Family Health Center and Anesthesiology Associates of Texarkana.
    1. It is all in accordance for our county mandated for indigent care. Blackburn.
    2. It is has also been approved by the City of Texarkana, Texas as well. Tom Whitten.

  7. Consider and take action to approve Memorandum of Agreement between Texarkana-Bowie County Family Health Center and Texarkana Surgery Center.

  8. Consider and take action to approve budget adjustments (line item transfers).
    1. “There are none. I might have some after the end of the quarter,” stated Bowie County Auditor William Tye.

  9. Consider and take action re: payment of accounts payable.

  10. Consider and take action to approve or to amend minutes as an order of the court.

    2. There were no amended minutes. The court approved the minutes of the previous court.
