Texarkana, Texas Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress Monday morning after a property owner observed four men removing items from a storage unit on Forest Lake Drive.

According to a press release issued by TTPD at approximately 10:00 a.m., the unit owner observed four white males as they removed appliances from a storage unit.  While he was speaking to 9-1-1 to report the suspicious circumstances, they fled in a white Dodge pickup and a pewter Chevrolet pickup and crashed through the perimeter fence.  He tried to pursue them as they drove south on Stateline Avenue.  The Dodge pickup veered across the roadway in the 6100 block of Stateline (across from Opportunities Inc.) and drove through a construction site in an effort to elude the owner.  A washing machine that had been stolen during the burglary was thrown from the back of the truck as it was driven across the field.  The vehicle travelled approximately 100 yards into the wooded area before getting stuck and was abandoned.  The second vehicle continued on Stateline Avenue and was located abandoned a short time later behind Naaman’s BBQ in the 5300 block of Stateline Avenue.

Officers were assisted by Texarkana Arkansas Police Department as they searched the area for the suspects who had fled.  No arrests have been made at this point.  Detectives continue to investigate the crime.
