A 5K charity run will be held at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow at Grady T. Wallace Park. Pre-registration is at 7 a.m.
All proceeds from the 5K run will go toward the Officer William Jason Sprague Memorial Scholarship fund at Texarkana College and the Officer Down Memorial Page, or ODMP.
Officer Sprague was a Texarkana, Texas, Police Officer killed last year in the line of duty after he was struck by a vehicle at Grady T. Wallace Park. The ODMP and its Officer Down 5K run is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s fallen law enforcement heroes.
The opening ceremony for the race is at 8 a.m. tomorrow and the race fee is $30. Though online sign up has closed, it’s still not too late to go to https://runsignup.com/tod5k to make a donation.
A police procession will kick off the race at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The 5K will begin soon afterward. A fun-run for kids will start at 9:30 a.m. The fee for children is $1 for children 12 and under. Medals and awards will be given to children.
Anyone with a ticket may attend tonight’s $5 “carb dinner for the athletes” from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Truman Arnold Center. A silent auction will follow.
