Clarksville woman killed after being ejected from crash near DeKalb

A Clarksville, Texas woman was killed in an accident on Highway 82 four miles east of DeKalb Friday afternoon, according to Texas DPS.

According to Texas DPS Trooper Sylvia Jennings, 43-year-old Mona Lashone Green was traveling as a passenger on U.S. 82 when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert.

“The vehicle hit the culvert with its front-end causing it to go airborne and then rolled one time, landing on its top,” said Jennings in a news release.

According to the release Green was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle..  The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Treyvone Dwight Ricks, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The accident occurred at 4:22 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Green was pronounced dead on scene at 5:40 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Rankin. Green’s body was taken to Bates Funeral Home in DeKalb.
