Red River Army Depot has partnered with the Texas A&M
Forest Service and the Bowie County Firefighters Association to host a Wildland Fire Training
Academy, April 29 through May 5. This is the second training academy held at RRAD.
This year the academy will include five courses including: S-130/190 Basic Wildland Firefighter;
S-212 Wildland Fire Chainsaws; L-280 Followership to Leadership; S-215 Fire Operations in the
Wildland/Urban Interface and S-131 Wildland Firefighter I. The Basic Wildland Firefighter course
will be offered twice, once during weekdays and the other on weeknights and the following
weekend. The evening/weekend classes are being offered to help accommodate volunteer
firefighters that may not have the opportunity to attend a day class during the week.
Registration is open to all federal and state agencies, fire departments and prescribed burn
managers.

assistance is available to qualified Texas departments through the Texas A&M Forest Service
under the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program (HB 2604) and TIFMAS. To

must be submitted to the Emergency Services Grants Division BEFORE the academy start
