Firefighters respond to fire at former residence of Charles B. Pierce, known for The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

Texarkana, Arkansas Fire Department responded to a fire at 926 Grand, the former home of Charles B. Pierce, on Saturday at the around 1:15 p.m.

 

Charles B. Pierce is known best for his film The Town That Dreaded Sundown.  The film was based on the 1946 cold case serial killer in Texarkana.

Captain Charlie Smith, Texarkana, Arkansas Fire Department describes the incident, “It was a hot fire, especially now that it’s getting warmer in the day.”

Smith continued, “It was fully involved with all 5 units engaged. We were able to knock it down relatively quickly, but it was real hot for quite a while.”

Neighbors gathered at a distance to watch in awe as the firefighters battled the blazing flames from the residence.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department.
