The Four States Agricultural Expo will return to Texarkana on Feb. 12, offering free educational workshops for producers and growers from across the region.
The event will take place at the Four States Fair and Rodeo, 3700 E. 50th St., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and concurrent programs running from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Lunch will be provided at no cost.
The expo is a joint project between the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Specialists from both institutions will lead sessions covering livestock and forage management, integrated pest management, and home horticulture.
“Agricultural challenges often extend beyond state lines, and by working together we can address regional issues more effectively, share specialized knowledge and make better use of resources,” said Jennifer Caraway, Miller County extension staff chair for the Division of Agriculture.
Continuing education units will be available for licensed pesticide applicators. Texas applicators can receive up to five hours of CEU credits for $10. Arkansas pesticide applicator training will also be offered for $65.
Workshop topics throughout the day include fly control in beef cattle, tree and lawn health management, forage crop weed management, rice pest control, and black vulture depredation on livestock. Sessions will be led by extension specialists and professors from both institutions.
The event is free and open to the public, targeting producers from Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
