Huckabee to Announce Decision to Run for President in Hope, Arkansas

Hope, Arkansas is set to have the national political news spotlight return once again when Mike Huckabee announces his decision to run for president on May 5.

Huckabee is scheduled to make the announcement 10 a.m. at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope campus.

Mike Huckabee was born in Hope which is also the hometown of President Bill Clinton.

All signs are pointing to Huckabee planning on entering the race for president.  He quit hosting his news show on Fox News in January so he could, “openly talk with potential donors and supporters and gauge support.”

Politico reports that Huckabee has already picked senior campaign staff and chosen his daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, to be his campaign manager.

Huckabee became Governor of Arkansas in 1996 when Governor Jim Guy Tucker was convicted of fraud.  Huckabee was elected to governor in 1998 and re-elected in 2002.
Huckabee lived in Texarkana, Arkansas serving as pastor at Beech Street Baptist Church from 1986 through 1992.
