Man Dies in Early Morning Gas Station Shooting

Police responded to a call of several shots fired at the RaceWay located at 4120 N. State Line Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. this morning.

According to Officer Kristi Mitchell with the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department, “[u]pon officers arrival it was determined that a physical altercation occurred that resulted in shots fired in the parking lot of the business.”

According to Officer Mitchell, the two subjects were struck by gunfire. One was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital and is in stable condition at this time. The second gunshot victim, Fred Eatherly, 30 years old, was taken to Wadley and later passed away from his injuries.

The Criminal Investigation Department was contacted and responded. Several detectives are currently working to gather information and speak with witnesses.
