Man Flees From TAPD Strikes Two Patrol Vehicles

6:30 p.m. Monday | Police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of 14 Street and Grand Avenue.

According to Kristi Mitchell with TAPD, officers responded to the area and located the suspicious vehicle. At which time a traffic stop was initiated by officers to which the driver of the vehicle did not yield and began to flee.

According to Mitchell a low speed pursuit of the suspect ensued. At the intersection of east 5th street and Hickory street the suspect struck 2 patrol vehicles causing minor damage to all vehicles involved.

The suspect, Mark Smyth, was transported to St. Michaels for precautionary measures and later released. According to Officer Mitchell Smyth was arrested for fleeing and various other traffic offenses. One officer was transported to Wadley for minor injuries.
