A Texarkana man whose wife died after he ran over her last week was in another woman’s company at the time.
Lucas McCarley’s wife, Casey McCarley, 34, had allegedly pulled out in front of his 2000 GMC Sierra truck, causing him to stop on Miller County Road 22 shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, according to a probable cause affidavit. A woman who was riding with Lucas McCarley told police Casey McCarley stepped out of her car and was walking toward the truck when Lucas McCarley tried to pull away, striking and running over her.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found Casey McCarley covered with a blue tarp, dead in the middle of the street. Deputies noticed a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in the truck’s front seat with a silver metal wallet containing suspected methamphetamine alongside.
Lucas McCarley is currently serving a 60-month term of probation for theft of property he received in Miller County in 2014. Prosecutors are likely to file a motion to revoke Lucas McCarley’s probation based on the new allegations.
Miller County District Judge Wren Autrey set McCarley’s bail on the felonies at $150,000 and at $2,000 on the misdemeanors. He is scheduled to appear before a Miller County circuit judge later this month.
