A medical marijuana dispensary is coming to the old Electric Cowboy location on E. Broad Street.
The dispensary was originally planned for Prescott but the location was moved to Texarkana at a Wednesday meeting of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Omission. The move was requested by the owners RX Med.
A representative of RX Med told commissioners that a location in Prescott were unavailable due to laws limiting the location of a dispensary and land owners unwilling to sell to a dispensary. He said they looked at more than 15 locations that were all unavailable.
No word on an opening date but the first Arkansas dispensaries are expected to have products by the end of April.
As of March 28 almost 10,000 Arkansas residents have been approved for medical marijuana ID cards.
