Texarkana, TX – Nash Elementary School has earned recognition as a 2018 Leader in Me Lighthouse School of Academic Distinction from Franklin Covey-Education. Sean Covey cited them “as exemplars for Leader in Me Schools throughout the world.”
The new Lighthouse School of Academic Distinction was created to recognize Leader in Me Schools that have both met the rigorous requirements necessary to achieve and maintain Lighthouse School Certification and shown exemplary academic growth or proficiency as measured by state accountability standards. To meet the academic proficiency standard, a school must be at or above the 85th percentile for the state’s combined proficiency standards. To meet the academic growth standard, the school must be at or above the 50th percentile and have shown a 5% growth from the previous year’s percentile ranking.
Nash Elementary was named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School in May 2017. At that time, they were one of 25 in Texas to receive the designation and one of only 290 in the world. The recognition came because of the outstanding results achieved in school and student outcomes and through the implementation of The Leader in Me process.
