Residents of three Bowie County cities approved the sale of beer and wine for off-premises consumption Tuesday.

The unofficial results show New Boston 470 in favor 373 against, DeKalb 175 in favor 164 against, and Redwater 129 in favor 105 against.

Red Lick and Leary voters also approved the creation of Emergency Services District 4, which will fund C-5 volunteer fire department, with a vote of 340 in favor and 61 against.

According to C-5 Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief John Alquist C-5 has been funded entirely by donations since its beginning in 1988.  Alquist said that the ESD will allow for a steady source of income to fund expenses.

According to Alquist the added funds should allow for the department to obtain a better rating making homeowners insurance cheaper for residents.
