According to an attorney at the Texas Office of Violent Sex Offender Management who talked with TKX Today the Maud restitution facility is no longer being considered by his office.

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, restitution centers target offenders who have problems maintaining employment and paying court-ordered obligations and who do not indicate serious substance abuse problems. Programming provided in restitution centers usually includes cognitive correctional intervention programs, community service restitution, employment readiness, and education and life skills training.

No word yet on the status of the public hearing that was scheduled for this Sunday in Maud.
