A woman is in custody without incident after pulling a knife on officers during a foot purusit Sunday morning.

According to Texarkana, Texas Police Department Public Information Officer Sergeant Mike Jones, officers were called to a disturbance in the 100 block of Medina around 7:30 Sunday morning.

Jones said that when officers arrived on scene Hayley Michelle Ward, 22, fled from officers for a short distance and then turned toward the officers brandishing a knife. One of the officers used a JPX pepper gun in an attempt to subdue Ward.

“Ward again fled from the officers, but she surrendered a short time later and was arrested,” said Jones.

According to Jones, Ward has been charged with evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest, search, or transport in addition to two traffic warrants. She is being held at the Bi-State Criminal Justice Center awaiting bond.
