To some, food is a necessity, but to others, food can be art! This is precisely the mission of Pecan Point Gastropub and Brewery. They offer seasonal dishes that are designed to perfection, each item offers a robust and dynamic flavor. From the exterior design, to the garnishing of the food, Pecan Point is purposeful and methodical in their preparations and execution of culinary art.
William Scurlock, Jason Williams, and Chef Becky Williams are more family than business partners. In fact, Jason and Becky are a husband and wife duo operating the restaurant. When you walk in, there is guaranteed to be a friendly face to greet guests and present the menu for the week.
“We love to serve as much from scratch as we can, that way we can really focus on dietary needs. We use a lot of local products from Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana; our goat cheeses are made in Texas. We do different things like that to support different “mom and pops” like us,” she said.
Chef Becky infuses french techniques often in her dishes to provide her own twist on traditional dishes.
“We want to broaden the food offered in Texarkana,” Chef Becky explained. We implement Thai, French, German, and Irish elements into our dishes to offer something unique.”
One popular dish is the duck, greens, and grits; savory and sweet flavors that coalesce in the mouth. Unlike more traditional grits that can be extremely cheesy, Chef Becky offers a version you will never want to deviate from. The sous vide duck breast, sage butter, southern greens, blueberry compote, and dusting of ancho chili will leave you longing for more.
Another great thing about Pecan Point, is that they have dishes for any occasion. For those seeking a lighter meal for lunch, they can order a soup or salad.
The menu changes weekly at Pecan Point, and now that fall is here, the Apple Pecan Green Salad is available. The apples, pecans, and feta are a healthy but hearty addition to the dish.
The Provence Salmon Salad is available and a great choice now with all the weather fluctuations in Texarkana. On a warm day, this salad provides a refreshing and zesty taste that your date might try to steal a bite of. The lavender poached salmon sits atop mixed greens, cucumber, red onion, olive tapenade, and feta, in red wine herb vinaigrette.
For those of us who have to order something sweet after dinner, there is the ultimate dessert that is new to the menu: Bourbon caramel chocolate cake. The chocolate cake is topped with bourbon caramel buttercream, chocolate ganache and pecan brittles. The cake is moist, rich, and absolutely delectable. Almost too beautiful to eat, almost.
