Pleasant Grove Middle School art students receive Regional Medals and Silver Seals at Junior VASE Competition

Pleasant Grove Middle School art students competed in the Junior Visual Scholastic Event (VASE) at Redwater High School on Saturday, March 2.

Art styles included coffee painted still lifes, printmaking and collage projects, altered self portraits, and creative expression pieces. Each student was scored 50% on their art piece and 50% on an interview process. Students presented their works to a judge for a five minute interview session making them eligible for 1-4 points.

Every Pleasant Grove Middle School student scored a four on their pieces resulting in Pleasant Grove Middle School being awarded a total of 15 regional gold medals. Two Pleasant Grove students, Ruby RehKopf and Maisey Courtney, were also awarded two out of the six prestigious Silver Seals.

The Pleasant Grove Middle School Art Department is under the direction of Taylor Timmons.
