Saturday night’s powerball jackpot is at a record $900 million or a one time lump sum cash value of $558 million. After taxes a single jackpot winner would take home around $340 million. If you went with the annuity it would be around $18 million a year for 30 years.
Area gas stations are already seeing longer lines than normal with people buying tickets.
According to Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs the game, the odds of having the winning Powerball ticket are 1 in 292.2 million.
A powerball ticket costs $2 and if you want powerplay it is an additional $1. Powerplay will double the prize if you match all five numbers but miss the powerball from $1 million to $2 million. Any lower prizes will be multiplied by a number drawn. (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x)
The drawing will be at 9:59 p.m. Saturday and ticket sales cut off at 9 p.m.
