Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter to Serve Community Thanksgiving Meal

Texarkana, Texas  (November 20, 2014) | on November 27, 2014, the Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter will serve a community meal at 11 am. Traditional fare including turkey, ham and stuffing will be served. The Shelter anticipates approximately 250 people will come to eat on the holiday.

“This is one of our favorite days of the year. So many people come together to make this holiday meal a wonderful experience for anyone who wishes to join us,” said Jennifer Laurent, Shelter executive director.

Those who wish to help may do so by coming that morning at 10am to serve and/or clean up, by bringing food (cooked or uncooked) anytime until the morning of Thanksgiving or by making financial contributions. Food needed includes turkeys, hams, side dishes, rolls and desserts. Other needed items include trash bags, paper plates, plastic utensils and cups.

The Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter is an emergency shelter for adult men and women. It is the only completely free, 92-bed facility in an 85-mile-radius. Thus far is 2014, the Shelter has provided 14% more nights of shelter than the same time period last year and more than 22% more than the same time period in 2010.
