A man facing a charge of rape in Miller County who failed to appear in court last year is back in custody.

Denickolas Maurice Brown, 26, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman he became acquainted with through social networking on Facebook, according to a probable cause affidavit. Brown and the woman allegedly agreed to meet Nov. 30, 2015, at the local Denny’s and then traveled to Brown’s home in Texarkana, Ark.

The woman claims Brown violently attacked her after putting his toddler daughter in another room and locking her inside. The woman told investigators Brown ordered her to leave once he’d finished assaulting her. The woman underwent a sexual assault examination at a local hospital.

Brown was arrested in December 2015 and remained in the Miller County jail until posting a $45,000 bail bond in March 2016. At an arraignment hearing before his release in March, Brown pleaded not guilty to the rape charge. At that hearing, Circuit Judge Kirk Johnson scheduled Brown to return to court for a pretrial hearing in June but Brown didn’t show.

Last month Brown was arrested by authorities in Dallas and returned to Arkansas to face the pending rape charge. At a hearing Tuesday, Johnson scheduled Brown’s case for a jury trial next month. Brown remains in the Miller County jail.
