Red Cross responds to help families displaced by apartment fire

A fire at the Redwood Apartments in the 3400 block of W. 7th St. left 8 familie displaced Saturday evening, according to the American Red Cross.

According to Red Cross Executive Director Eric Cain, a Red Cross team is on scene working with the apartment manager to be sure everyone has a safe place to stay. They are also making sure everyone has items like new shoes, new clothing, groceries, prescription medications replaced and other essentials.

According to police radio traffic the fire that damaged multiple units started as a grease fire.
