Redwater Students Win $1,500 in TxDOT PSA Contest

On February 27, Redwater High School Students participated in the TxDOT Traffic Safety Public Service Announcement competition held in Jefferson, Texas. Their video, which won first place, scored them a $1,500 check.

The students created their winning video about the hazards of distracted and drunk driving and beat out nine other schools from the TxDOT Atlanta District which covers a nine-county area of Northeast Texas.

The funds will go towards their Project Celebration event. Project Celebration events are conducted by educators, parents and community partners to help keep students safe and alcohol-free throughout the school year, especially during school-related celebrations. The activities provide students ongoing education on the dangers of impaired driving, with concentrated education scheduled around events such as spring break, prom or graduation.
