Authorities spent another day searching for escaped prisoner Jeremy Pifer. Pifer escaped while on a trash detail in the Fouke area last Thursday.

According to authorities Pifer was spotted at EZ Mart in Fouke at 3 AM this morning and was on video tape. Authorities set up a perimeter and used an Arkansas State Police helicopter equipped with heat sensing cameras. The Fouke Schools were on lockdown all day. Fouke Mayor Terry Purvis said “the safest place for your kids today was at the school. They where very well watched and protected. There will be several State troopers and several deputies here in Fouke all night tonight.”

According to Mayor Purvis they are calling the search off for the night. Purvis continued, “There where a couple of possible sightings today but they didn’t pan out. They brought in the State Police helicopter from Little Rock with the infrared cameras and they didn’t see anything in the woods surrounding Fouke.”

Miller County Sheriff Deputies are still on scene searching areas and will be patrolling the area all night along with ASP Troopers. The larger search effort with the State Police Helicopter, ADC officers, and US Marshals has wound down for the night.
