Airman First Class Sawyer Spaulding, returned home to Texarkana following a 6 month deployment to Afghanistan along with a 16 month station assignment at Aviano Air Base in Italy. His first stop and surprise was to see his sisters, Texas High School students Piper and Hartley Spaulding.
Sawyer, a 2013 Texas High School graduate joined the US Air Force immediately following graduation. Beginning January 2013, he has been stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy where he is a 31st Munitions Squadron member. He was deployed from April through October 2015 to Afghanistan in the 455th MXG at Bagram Air Base. His sisters knew that he was coming home in December, just no idea when.
