TAPD Arrests 4 Men for Firing an AR-15 into Air Near 1400 Block of Laurel

Texarkana, Arkansas Police arrested three adult males and a juvenile Monday afternoon for firing a rifle into the air from their vehicle in the 1400 block of Laurel Street.

According to Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department Public Information Officer Kristi Mitchell on Monday, April 20, 2015, Texarkana Arkansas Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the 1400 Block of Laurel Street. Officers arrived on scene and determined through initial investigation that a vehicle with several occupants fired an AR-15 weapon into the air while stopped at that intersection of 14th Street and Laurel Street. After the incident the vehicle drove toward North State Line Avenue. Three .223 caliber shell casings were found at the scene.

While investigating the call Officers located the suspect vehicle at a convenience store in the 1500 Block of North State Line Avenue. The vehicle contained four suspects, Rakim Thurston, b/m 18yoa, Jacob Willage, w/m 19yoa, Neco Smith, b/m 19yoa, and a 17yoa juvenile male. Two weapons were located in the vehicle, an AR-15 rifle and small handgun.

According to Mitchell all four suspects were arrested and charged with carrying a weapon.
