TASD community mourning death of College Hill Elementary principal

Hearts are heavy in the Texarkana Arkansas School District and the community. Marguerite Hillier, principal of College Hill Elementary, died early Thursday morning, July 16. “We have suffered a tremendous loss; we have lost a dear friend and colleague and the impact will be felt across our entire TASD family.“ said Dr. Becky Kesler TASD Superintendent.

Mrs. Hillier was a lifelong Razorback, graduating from Arkansas High School in 1971 then beginning her employment with the school district in 1974 as a teacher. She also served the District as an instructional supervisor and principal. She reached an educational milestone by receiving Master Principal Recognition in 2010. Kesler said Mrs. Hillier displayed a strong work ethic and was loved by students, parents and colleagues. During her 41 year tenure in the school district, Mrs. Hillier led with integrity, compassion, and a dedication that went beyond measure. In addition to being a phenomenal educator, Mrs. Hillier will be remembered for her passionate commitment to advancing the achievements of her schools.

“Marguerite cared about her students and was a friend, mentor and role model to staff and administrators. She was well respected by her peers and the community and will be deeply missed,” commented Kesler. “Our hearts and prayers go out to Marguerite’s family during this very difficult time.”
