Texarkana College expressed its sympathy Friday to the family, friends and colleagues of long-time faculty member, Dawson Johnson. Johnson was found dead yesterday evening by park rangers in Sequoia National Park after falling approximately 1,100 feet from the north summit of Mount Whitney, Calif.
Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
Johnson was hired by Texarkana College in 1977 as a Computer Technology faculty member. He served as Director of Computer Technology from 1988 until 2012 and was a tenured Professor in Computer Technology.
Dawson received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science from ETSU-Commerce.
