Texarkana College’s Culinary Program Partners with Walk-On’s Restaurants

Texarkana College’s culinary program has partnered with Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, the fastest growing casual dining restaurant in the United States. One of its newest locations is set to open in Texarkana, Texas in January 2020 at 5209 W Park Blvd. 

Walk-On’s chef John Dupree and kitchen manager Jacey Doyle spent the day with TC culinary students training students step-by-step how to make several delicious foods from Walk-On’s menu in preparation for Taste of Texarkana. Everything on the menu is made from scratch in-house every day, so TC culinary students were able to experience what a day on the job at Walk-On’s is like, firsthand. 

Brad Pereira, Walk-On’s general manager for the Texarkana location, is very excited about the partnership between the franchise and Texarkana College. 

Pereira said, “By 2022, we plan to have five new restaurants in North Texas. That is 30 management positions and even more cooking positions that need qualified workers. This partnership benefits both sides in a very positive way.” 

Walk-On’s has sold locations from Phoenix, Arizona to Miami, Florida and has over 100 locations on the way. They promote internally and looking for high-quality chefs, like those found right here on Texarkana College’s campus.
