12:30 A.M. Friday | Hannah Shumaker and Jennifer O’Neal were looking at new cars at Gregg Orr Auto on Mall Drive when they heard a kitten meowing. At first they thought it was a woman screaming. It turned out the kitten was trapped at the top of the support column for the 369 flyover onto I-30 eastbound. The two women called 911 and officers Frost and Courtney of TTPD responded.

TTPD then requested assistance from the Texarkana Texas Fire Department and Ladder 743 was dispatched to the scene. The ladder had no problem reaching the height but the kitten kept moving away from the edge causing the truck to have to reposition twice.

After about an hour Captain Green succesfully got his hand on the kitten and successfully got it back to the ground.

Hannah will be keeping the kitten and said she is probably going to name it Highway.
