Texarkana firefighters assisting with fire danger in panhandle

The Texarkana, Texas Fire department has sent two personnel, Captain Chuck Weerts and Firefighter Nick Smith along with a brush truck to Amarillo, Texas to assist with a large wildfire.

According to a post on the Texarkana, Texas Fire Department Facebook page this aid was requested by the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. Other fire departments included in this effort include Longview, Mt. Pleasant, Lamar County and Titus County with the deployment time potentially lasting up to nine days.

Over 1200 acres have burned in Potter County (Amarillo) since Sunday. We wish all those involved to be able to get the job completed quickly and return home safe.
