Mom Accused Of Leaving Kids, 8, 2 And 10 Months, Home Alone For Hours

TEXARKANA, Texas–A Texarkana woman is facing three counts of child
endangerment for allegedly leaving her three young children – ages 8 years,
2 years and 10 months old – alone unsupervised while she was at work.

Kaimyuia Bradley, 27, is currently being held in the Bowie County jail on
three counts of abandoning or endangering a child with bail set at $300,000.

When patrol officers responded to a welfare call in the 2600 block of W.
13th street at about 7:15 a.m. Jan. 8. they could hear the sound of a baby
crying and entered out of concern for the child’s safety, according to a
probable cause affidavit. Inside, officers found a 10-month old, clad only
in a diaper, sitting on a bed crying in a second-floor bedroom next to a
sleeping 2-year-old.

At least two callers had asked police to check on the children, with one
telling dispatchers that an 8-year-old boy had asked people at a bus stop
to watch his younger siblings “because he was afraid they would fall off
the bed and he needed to attend school.”

The boy had reportedly stayed home, caring for the children, when his
mother was at work, but feared that if he continued to miss school, he
would be in trouble. The 8-year-old reportedly walked a half mile to school
the day officers were called to check on the children.

Investigators believe the children had been left alone for two to three
hours before police arrived.

Child Protective Services staff who were called to the scene, told officers
that Bradley has a prior conviction for child endangerment stemming from an
arrest in 2020.

Court records show that Bradley is currently serving a five-year term of
felony probation for child abandonment/endangerment that began before her
two youngest children were born. Bradley received probation in 2021 as part
of a plea arrangement, according to court records.

If convicted of abandoning or endangering a child, Bradley faces two to 20
years in prison on each of three counts. She could face additional time in
the earlier child endangerment case as probation officials have requested
further action from the court in light of the new alleged offenses.

The cases are assigned to 202nd District Judge John Tidwell. Bradley is
represented by the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office.
