Texas A&M University-Texarkana Announces New Dean for the College of Business

Texarkana, TX – Texas A&M University-Texarkana has appointed Dr. Gary Stading as the new Dean of the College of Business. Dr. Stading joins A&M-Texarkana from the University of Houston Downtown, where since 2001, he worked as an Assistant Professor, Tenured Associate Professor, Department Chair for the College of Business, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, and most recently, the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies in the College of Business. He was awarded his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University with a concentration in Production and Operations Management.

Mr. Don Morriss, a member of the search committee, says “It is a pleasure to welcome Dr. Gary Stading to Texarkana and Texas A&M University- Texarkana as the Dean of the College of Business. Not only will he be an excellent addition to the TAMU-T family, he will be a valued asset to the Texarkana region.” He then added, “Dr. Stading has a unique background in transportation development and it is a perfect time to leverage these talents as Texarkana grows into a regional transportation hub with two Interstate highways, multiple railroad lines, and a centralized location in Texarkana, USA. A TAMU-T and Texarkana business partnership is very exciting for the future of the region.”

Dr. Stading will officially join the A&M-Texarkana Eagle family on July 13, where he plans to continue the process of attaining AACSB accreditation, which faculty and COB leadership have already begun, and to grow and nurture industry partnerships. He believes that industry partnerships are paramount in building student value in the educational process. He wants to build on what the current leadership has already established.

Dr. Stading says of his appointment “I am extremely pleased and honored to be joining the TAMUT organization. The faculty and staff represent the highest ideals of academic standards, while the students are hardworking and interested in attaining education to better their lives and the world in which we live. I hope to provide servant leadership for the TAMUT stakeholders (all faculty, staff, students, community partners, etc.) in such a way that TAMUT continues to grow and develop in our contributions to our community, our state, our region, our country, and our world.”

The faculty and staff here are excited for this next chapter for the College of Business and what Dr. Stading brings to the university community. “Dr. Stading’s experience in industry, his successful collaboration with businesses while at the University of Houston Downtown, his knowledge of AACSB accreditation, and his strong interpersonal skills make him an excellent match for what we need in the next Dean for the College of Business,” said Dr. Rosanne Stripling, TAMUT Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
