Texas High Sophomore Aiden Kendricks Honored With Tiger Courage Award After Waterpark Rescue

A True Tiger Shows Courage When It Matters Most.

Last night, the Texarkana ISD Board of Trustees proudly recognized Texas High School sophomore and Tiger football player Aiden Kendricks with the Tiger Courage Award, presenting him with a Certificate of Recognition and commemorative medal for his outstanding leadership, courage, and selfless service to others.

What began as a summer job quickly became a life-saving moment. Just days into his role as a lifeguard at Big Dam Waterpark, Aiden noticed a young child struggling in the water. Without hesitation, he relied on his training, blew his whistle, entered the pool, and safely rescued the child.

In a matter of seconds, Aiden’s calm demeanor, quick thinking, and decisive actions made all the difference.

The award was presented to Aiden by Coach Gerry Stanford, Executive Director of Athletics, in recognition of his heroic actions and the outstanding character he displayed when someone needed help most.

Aiden’s actions remind us that true leadership isn’t measured only on the field — it’s demonstrated through character, responsibility, and a willingness to put others first. We couldn’t be more proud to call him a Tiger.

Congratulations, Aiden, and thank you for representing Texarkana ISD with courage, compassion, and excellence.
