tisd2Texarkana, TX – Texarkana Independent School District is encouraging the community, parents and guardians to join them for a Parent & Community Update Meeting detailing the results of their recent one-year long strategic planning process.

Two community meetings will be offered for guests to attend. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at 5:30 p.m. while the second meeting will be on Wednesday, July 30 at 11:30 a.m. Both meetings will be in the Dan Haskins Student Center at Texas High School, 2112 Kennedy Lane and a BBQ Meal will be provided.

During the September 2013 TISD Board of Trustees meeting, members approved TISD to move forward on a strategic planning process working with Cambridge Strategic Services. The year-long process, involving parents, students, staff and community members, focused on determining short-term and long-term goals for the district. Participants looked at challenges the district faces, the aspirations they want to achieve, limitations that exist and enhancement of resources to transform TISD for the future.

Committee members formulated a new mission, parameters, beliefs and strategies for TISD in November 2013 and then developed Action Planning Teams to address individual strategies. Those teams presented their findings and decisions in March 2014 for development of the final plan and TISD Board of Trustees approved the document in June 2014.

The Parent & Community Update Meetings will detail the strategic plan goals for 2014-15 and address projected elementary and middle school facility needs for the future.
