January 19, 2015 | Texarkana Texas Police Department awarded the 2014 Dispatcher of the Year to Sherrea Moon and 2014 Dispatch Supervisor of the Year to Elis Cobb.

We are very pleased to announce that Sherrea Moon has been chosen as the 2014 Dispatcher of the Year and Elis Cobb has been chosen as the 2014 Dispatch Supervisor of the Year.

Ms. Moon was selected based upon the professional manner in which she handled the radio traffic on August 11 when a Bowie County Deputy and a DeKalb Police Officer were involved in an incident where shots were fired and the DeKalb officer was wounded. She was also the primary city dispatcher on December 12 when a Texarkana, Texas Police Officer was involved in a shots fired call. She did an outstanding job of understanding the information, insuring their safety, and initiating the appropriate response. Sherrea has been a dispatcher for just under three years and recently received her TCOLE Intermediate License.

Ms. Cobb was selected for her consistent professionalism, attention to detail, and her dedication to providing superior dispatch service to our officers, firefighters and the public. While serving as the Terminal Access Coordinator in 2014, Elis was instrumental in the successful completion of TCIC and CJIS audit reports. Elis has been a dispatcher here since 2007 and was promoted to supervisor in 2010. In 2014, she earned her TCOLE Master Telecommunicator License. Elis is also serves as a hostage negotiator with the BCSO SWAT HNG Team.

We extend our sincere congratulations to both Sherrea and Elis.
