Texarkana, Texas Police Detectives are charging two Texarkana, Texas men with the burglary of a home in the 500 block of King Street which led to one of them being shot by the resident.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Dakyree Hawkins, 20, and Keonte Ingram, 18, forced entry into the home of Andre Harris in the 500 block of King Street. The two fled the scene after Harris, who was home at the time, fired at them with a handgun. Hawkins was later found by officers as he lay in the road, suffering from gunshot wounds, in the 600 block of Celeste Street.
Warrants were issued for Ingram and Hawkins for Burglary of a Habitation and Ingram was arrested later that day. Hawkins has not yet been arrested but is wanted for the crime.
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on October 13, 2015, Texarkana, Texas Police responded to a shots fired call in the area of Celeste and King Streets in the Beverly neighborhood. While checking the area, the officers located 20 year old Dakyree Hawkins of Texarkana, Texas lying in the street in the 600 block of Jerome Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
Officers followed a trail of Hawkins’ blood to the home of 33 year old Andre Harris in the 500 block of King Street. Harris told the officers that a man had forced his way into his home and that he fired multiple shots at the man from a handgun to protect himself.
