Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Texarkana Area Until Midnight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until midnight tonight for the Texarkana area.

According to the advisory 1 to 2 inches of snow may be possible along and north of Interstate 30. Heaviest snowfall will likely be during the afternoon hour with rates diminishing during the evening.

Use caution especially on elevated and exposed surfaces including bridges and overpasses.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SHREVEPORT HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT.
* EVENT… WEAK DISTURBANCES IN THE UPPER-LEVEL FLOW COMBINED WITH A COLD AIRMASS IN PLACE WILL ALLOW FOR A CHANCE OF SNOW TODAY AND TONIGHT ACROSS THE REGION. BETWEEN 1 TO 2 INCHES MAY BE POSSIBLE ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 30.
* TIMING… SNOW IS FORECAST TO BEGIN FALLING AROUND MID-MORNING WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS OCCURRING DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. SNOWFALL RATES TO DIMINISH DURING THE EVENING.
* IMPACT… IMPACTS WILL BE CONFINED TO MAINLY ELEVATED AND EXPOSED SURFACES INCLUDING BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. IF THE SNOW COMES DOWN QUICKLY ENOUGH… THEN SURFACE STREETS WILL SEE ACCUMULATIONS AS WELL.
