A Texarkana woman accused of running over a man after dragging his girlfriend by the hair as she drove down a Texarkana, Texas, street, was indicted Thursday by a Bowie County grand jury.

Michelle Purvis, 35, was allegedly sitting in her car in the 2700 block of Milam Street, talking to Ashley Venable, 27, about custody and other issues April 20, according to a probable cause affidavit. Purvis was allegedly living with the father of Venable’s child.

Purvis allegedly grabbed Venable by the hair and began driving down the street when Venable’s boyfriend, Julian Clagg, ran after them. Purvis allegedly released her grip on Venable’s locks and put her car in reverse, driving over Clagg’s head and fracturing his skull.

Purvis was arrested later in the day at her home. A Bowie County grand jury indicted Purvis last week for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury. The offense is punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

Purvis is scheduled for arraignment later this month before 202nd District Judge Leon Pesek, Jr.
