Burton Clyde Bowers, Jr., age 90, of Wake Village, Texas, passed away on December 17, 2025.

He was born on April 19, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Mildred and Burton Clyde Bowers, Sr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy McGuire Bowers.

Burton is survived by one son, Doug Bowers, and his wife, Amy. One daughter, Lori Michelle Quave, and her husband, Kenneth; and four grandchildren: Madison Bowers, Taylor Quave, Trevor Quave, and Britton Quave.

Burton retired after many years of dedicated service as Director of Engineering at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps and later served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Police of the Texas State Guard.

Burton served as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Wake Village, Texas, for twenty-eight years and was a member of the Wake Village Fire Department for twenty years. He also served twelve years as a Reserve Police Officer and Chaplain for the Nash, Texas Police Department, totaling forty years of service in law enforcement. In addition, he was appointed Presiding Municipal Judge for the City of Wake Village, Texas, on June 12, 2017.

He was employed by Marketplace Ministries, Inc., as a chaplain for six years, serving various businesses. He was an Ordained Deacon and served as Director of Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Wake Village, Texas, for seventeen years. He preached as Pulpit Supply throughout the area for twenty years, served as a Hospice Chaplain in Texarkana, and was licensed to the Gospel Ministry by First Baptist Church Wake Village in January 2001.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Wake Village with visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. Dr. David Holder and Rev. Cody Howard officiating. Burial will be at Chapelwood Cemetery.
