Glenda Sue Spears
November 22, 1941 – January 18, 2026
Glenda Sue Ward Spears, also lovingly known as Nana, left her earthly body to join her Heavenly Father on January 18, 2026.
Glenda was born on November 22, 1941, to her parents, Henry Worren Ward and Elizabeth Virginia Hicks Ward. Glenda received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and worked as an accountant for Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperation until her retirement.
Glenda was a faithful Christian until the very end of her life. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived and served others. She was a devoted member of Beech Street First Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she joyfully served as a Vacation Bible School director and Sunday School teacher, pouring her heart into the lives of children and families.
Nothing brought Nana more joy than her children and grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports and proudly supported them, never missing a game. She also cherished time spent traveling, especially trips to Branson and Disney World, making memories she and her family would treasure forever. She loved getting out of the house to go out to eat, especially when it meant sharing a meal and good conversation with those she loved. She could often be found playing cards, shopping with the girls, or settling in to watch a good western, with a fondness for John Wayne classics.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H.W. and Virginia Ward; and her loving husband, Charles Glendon Spears, Sr.
She is survived by her two children, Donna Sue Rogers, and husband, Ron of Simms, TX and Glen Spears, Jr., and wife, Melonie of Texarkana, AR; four grandchildren, Cody Rogers and wife Ashley, Carissa Simmons and husband Jacob, Daniel Spears and wife Samantha, and Sarah Gancarczyk and husband Aaron; ten great-grandchildren, Braxton Rogers, Tatum Rogers, Bowen Rogers, Brantley Simmons, Kamden Simmons, Adalynn Spears, Asher Spears, Archer Spears, Mia Gancarczyk, and Emily Gancarczyk; her siblings, Kathaleen Easterling-Slay, Maureen Whittenburg, Judy Pittman, Sharon Kay Glass, and Warren Ray Ward; along with numerous other relatives, friends, and her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the chapel of Texarkana Funeral Home – Arkansas.
The family will receive friends the evening prior, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Beech Street First Baptist Church in the sanctuary.
