Judith Ann Bryant (“Judy”), age 85, of Genoa, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Texarkana on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
She was born on December 16, 1940, in Miller County, Arkansas, to Mark and Merle Purifoy.
Judy will be remembered by her family and friends for her kind heart, generous spirit, and willingness to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. Her love for her family and her selfless nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a teacher for the Genoa School District for thirty-eight years before retiring in 1999. Judy was a voracious reader; she read thousands of books during her lifetime. She loved to travel and could never go enough to satisfy her urge to see new places and things. She also attended hundreds, if not thousands, of basketball games and track meets, watching her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Brenda Bryant, her husband Byron Neil Bryant (“Coach”), and her three brothers, Mark Purifoy Jr., Leroy Purifoy, and Pierce Purifoy.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Barry Bryant and wife, Mary, of Glen Rose, Texas; Boyd Bryant and wife, Angie, of Kirby, Arkansas; one daughter, Belinda Green and husband, Rowdy Green, of Genoa, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Sarah Wasserbly, Byron Bryant, Rowdy Green, Coy Bryant, Barron Bryant, Thomas Lynn Green, and Calyse Roy; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Arin, Faith, Braylee, Skyler, Eden, Braylon, Lucas, Bryant, Hensley, Baxton, Nathan, Ellisyn and Adilynn; her dear friend, Alethea Morine; and a host of friends and relatives.
Judy’s family will forever cherish the love, compassion, and strength she shared throughout her life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Holly Springs Cemetery with Bro. Frank McFerrin and Buddy Ray officiating.
