Frankie Shanks

Frankie Jean Shanks, age 85, of Nash, Texas, entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Mrs. Shanks was born March 28, 1935, in Texarkana, Texas to Phillip and Frances Pate Chaulker. She grew up in Texarkana and attended Liberty Eylau High School. After school, she worked for a furniture company and an accounting firm. She met her husband, Lee Shanks in 1964, and they were married on June 17, 1966, in Nash, Texas.

Mrs. Shanks has been a member of First Baptist Church Nash since 1964 where she spent many years serving on the hostess and counting committees. She retired from Texarkana ISD as the secretary for Kennedy Elementary School after fifteen years of service.

Frankie enjoyed reading the daily newspapers. She was an avid football and baseball fan, especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She enjoyed keeping track of their schedules and scores of the games. Every Friday, she looked forward to going to the beauty salon to get her hair styled followed by a night out to eat that evening with friends.

Frankie is preceded in death by her beloved parents and a sister, Bobbie Louise Preston.

Survivors include her dear husband of 54 years, Lee Shanks; three sons, Kelley Shanks and wife, Trayce, Dan Shanks and wife Norma and Ronnie Shanks and wife Lori; seven grandchildren, Teejay Shanks and wife Aerrial, Heather Novascone and husband Jason, Erin Brooks, Michael Shanks, Amanda VanderLinden and husband Drew, Kelcie Moore and husband Joseph and Lacie Firth; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Guyton; one brother Bennie Wayne Chaulker and wife Shirley and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hands of Wisdom and Retreat Hospice for the care Frankie received.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at First Baptist Church Nash with Rev. Kelley Shanks and Rev. Rex Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chapelwood Funeral Home.
