It has been nine years since Texarkana, Texas, native Sgt. Kyle Brandon Stout, 25, was killed in Afghanistan while serving his country in the U.S. Army.
Sgt. Stout died July 30, 2010, while serving in “Operation Enduring Freedom” in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
After two Texarkana residents were killed in battle in Afghanistan, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department granted Miller County permission to designate a bridge in Texarkana to honor two fallen soldiers. Officials here designated the North State Line Ave. bridge across Interstate 30 as the “Kyle Brandon Stout/Zainah Creamer Memorial Bridge.”
The bridge straddles the state line between Texas and Arkansas. It honors one fallen soldier from Texarkana, Ark., – Zainah Creamer – and one from Texarkana, Texas – Kyle Stout. Creamer was killed in January 2011 in Afghanistan when her unit was attacked with homemade bombs. She worked as a dog handler with the 212th Military Police Detachment and died when she was 28.
Sgt. Stout was a Sergeant E5 in the United States Army, having served in “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and “Operation Enduring Freedom.” His parents are Mike and Robin Stout and he is the youngest of three children.
Sgt. Stout graduated from Texas High School in 2003 and joined the United States Army in 2006 as an Artillery Specialist. He was a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.
Sgt. Stout’s loyalty, dedication and selfless service were honored on many occasions. Those awards and decorations included:

- Army Good Conduct Medal
- National Defense Service Medal
- Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign star
- Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star
- Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
- Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and graduation from the Army Air Assault Course.
Sgt. Stout helped in the continued fight for the war on terror, deploying to Iraq in Oct 2007 and returning in November 2008. He deployed to Afghanistan in June 2010. Sgt. Stout will be remembered as a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
