Adult Learners Find a Fresh Start at UA Hope-Texarkana

For adults who are ready for a new career, a promotion, a GED, or the opportunity to complete a degree, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) offers a fresh start close to home.

UAHT provides affordable, flexible, and career-focused programs designed to help adult learners take the next step in life. Whether students are returning to the classroom after years away, balancing college with work and family responsibilities, or starting over after a career change or a layoff, UAHT offers the support and training they need to move forward.

“Many adult students come to UAHT because they are ready for something new,” said Jennifer Teresa, UAHT Dean of Technical Programs. “Some want to earn a promotion, some want to change careers, some have been laid off, some are completing a GED, and others are finishing what they started years ago. No matter where they begin, we are here to help them build a bridge to a brighter future.”

UAHT offers a wide range of technical and career programs that prepare students for in-demand jobs in the region. Programs include welding, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), diesel technology, construction technology, and electromechanical technology. These hands-on programs are designed to help students gain practical skills that can lead to employment, advancement, or additional training.

For students interested in shorter-term workforce training, UAHT also offers programs such as fiber optic technician training, forklift operator training, and commercial truck driver training.
