Bessie Sue Holmes, age 87, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Mrs. Holmes was born on June 4, 1939, in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and lived most of her life in Texarkana. Bessie was retired from Alcola Aluminum Plant. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Boyd Community Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she cherished her church family and the fellowship she shared with them. Bessie had a giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She found joy in giving to others and touched many lives through her kindness, generosity, and love. Bessie was an excellent seamstress and had a special gift for creating beautiful clothing for her family. She lovingly made clothes with her own hands, putting time, care, and attention into every stitch. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed life and especially cherished the time she spent with family. Bessie was a wonderful cook who found great delight in preparing and sharing meals with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard (Bill) Holmes, and one son, Daryl Holmes.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: John Branham and his wife Cindy of Rocky Gap, Virginia; Johnnie Howard and his wife, Tammy of Ft. Worth, Texas; Doyle Holmes and his wife, Karla of Doddridge, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren: Sarah Begley, Becky Maksimenko, Katrina Kelley, Justin Holmes, William Holmes, Nathan Holmes, Kayla Rogers, Elizabeth Holmes, Josh Holmes, Caleb Holmes, Hannah Holmes; ten great-grandchildren: John Austin, Katie, Lylah, Sam, Jaycob, Ava, Daryl, Jaspyr, Gabbie, Connor and a host of friends and other relatives.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Holmes will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with Rev. Doug Rhodes, Rev. Tommy Henderson and Rev. Bill Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Rondo Cemetery, Texarkana, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to service time.
