Wednesday, September 3, 2014 – Texarkana Arkansas School District supporters gathered Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated library at Arkansas High School, also known as the P.I.G. Spot (Publications Information Gathering Spot).

The library was built in 1986, and this is the first remodel since construction. The $52,000 remodel was funded in part by the Arkansas Women for Education and Texarkana Arkansas Education Foundation.

“The students are so excited about their newly remodeled library. One student actual cried when she came through the doors. She said, ‘It’s so beautiful.’ Now if that doesn’t touch your heart, I don’t know what will,” commented AHS librarian Teresa Bennett.

The library renovation began this summer and was complete before school started on August 18. Several students from AHS and library media graduate students from SAU volunteered their time this summer.
