A suspect in a deadly car wash shooting was indicted Thursday by a grand jury in Bowie County.
Jimmy Jerome Dancer, 29, is accused of murder in the March 24 shooting death of 25-year-old Tilford Barfield III. According to earlier statements from police, Barfield was shot multiple times in the abdomen and in both legs after a fight broke out at the Bay Wash car wash located at 4203 North State Line Avenue at about 10:15 p.m.
A second suspect, Lee Lewis, 36, of Texarkana, Texas, was arrested at his home on Magnolia Street at about 4 a.m. by police on March 25. Lewis has not been formally indicted in Barfield’s murder.
Barfield was allegedly watching the fight when he was fatally wounded. A motive for the shooting has not been released.
Dancer is currently being held in the Bowie County jail. His case is assigned to 202nd District Judge John Tidwell. Dancer is expected to appear in court later this month for arraignment.
