A man who was arrested by Texarkana, Texas, police in June for alleged inappropriate sexual touching of his roommate’s 6-year-old daughter is expected to appear next week for arraignment in Bowie County.

Ronald Lee Leavitt, 66, was allegedly living with his wife, another woman and the second woman’s daughter in a house in the 2100 block of Walnut in Texarkana, Texas, when the girl’s mother contacted police in June. The mother reported that her young daughter told her Leavitt has touched her several times while pretending to play with her, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Leavitt allegedly told his wife and their roommate that the touching was an accident but they did not believe him. Leavitt’s wife allegedly reported to police that Leavitt was accused of sexual misconduct in the 1970s and provided detectives with the names of relatives of Leavitt’s they could contact.

Leavitt was indicted Oct. 3 by a Bowie County grand jury for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14. If convicted, he faces five to 99 years or life in prison. Both Leavitt’s wife and the mother of the 6-year-old girl allegedly told police that Leavitt is not welcome back in the residence.

Leavitt is scheduled to appear before 5th District Judge Bill Miller for arraignment Nov. 1. Leavitt is being held in the Bowie County jail with bond set at $150,000.
