Police investigating fatal shooting on W. 18th Street

Texarkana Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in the 2000 block of West 18th Street.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting victim in front of a residence at that location at 12:14 this morning. When officers arrived, they found Deandre “Shawn” Bush, 27, of Texarkana Texas slumped over in the front seat of a vehicle parked. Officers attempted to provide first aid to Bush but quickly determined that he was already deceased. Bush had what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Police say that they believe that he was shot through the open driver’s side window from a close distance as he sat in the car.

Bush’s body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Dallas for an autopsy.
